Web Design Process
The process of planning, designing, and building a website can be a daunting task. A successful website project
requires a well organized development plan.
Sureshot Web Design and Development uses a consistent, time tested process, to ensure that the entire project is
completed on time and on budget.
Our project managers will establish a schedule and stay in constant communication with you throughout your project to make sure that the schedule is maintained. Your schedule and regular updates will be available from our web based project management application so you can check on the progress at any time.
Below is a brief outline of the standard project lifecycle.
- Initial Contact
-
We will meet with you, in person or via telephone, to conduct a brief interview process, during which, we will
establish the general scope and goals of your website project.
Based on the information obtained during this meeting we will generate a brief project summary and an estimate. This summary and estimate will be delivered to you for your review. - Project Acceptance and Contract Signing
-
When you have had an opportunity to review the project proposal and decide to begin the project, the next step
is the signing of the project contract. At this time the first project payment, of 50% of the total project cost,
is also due.
We use a standard website development contract but we are willing to work with you to ensure that the contract is agreeable and equitable to you and your business. - Requirements Analysis
-
The first step of the design process is to define your project goals and requirements. Our project planners will
work closely with you and your staff to ensure that we have a clear, thorough understanding of the technical and
operational requirements of your website project.
This will include items such as data formats, project dependencies and constraints, special user needs, and presentational requirements. - Project Specification Approval
-
You will be presented with a report that details the information identified and defined during the requirements analysis
phase. This report will include a proposed development schedule, with milestones, so you know how long the project will last.
You will be required to review and approve this information before project development can begin. This information will serve as the reference from which all project features and operations that comprise the final product will be derived. - Project Concept and Design
-
Upon approval of the project specifications our planning and design teams will begin the process of creating your website.
We start by determining the best way to present your web services to your clients. We then develop one or more visual concepts
designed to support and promote your company image.
These concept materials will be delivered to you for review and approval. During this process of review our designers will work closely with you to ensure that your website provides for the needs of your clients while presenting a distinct and appealing extension of your company. - Project Development
-
When the project design concept has been approved; project development begins. During this phase of the project lifecycle the
concept will be converted to a working website. This includes the generation of graphics and content, website setup and coding,
and the setup/configuration of any third party services.
Throughout the development process regular progress updates will be presented via the web based project management system. You may log in to this system and review our progress at any time. A formal progress report will be generated for each project milestone which you will be required to review and approve. This ensures that any inconsistencies are caught early to reduce the overall impact on the project schedule. - Testing/Debugging
-
Our team tests the project continually throughout development to eliminate "bugs" at the earliest possible stage. This testing
process include both discreet and global tests to maintain the highest level of performance and quality.
We test the website code, website graphics, and back end processing code across a wide range of platforms to ensure that the project adheres to the specifications, web standards, and enforces an adequate level of security for all your data. - Final Client Review
-
Upon completion of the development and testing/debugging phases, the website is prepared and presented for your final review.
It is during this time that you are required to review the final product and issue your approval of the project.
If the project has been completed to your satisfaction you issue your acceptance via a signed project approval document. This document is then returned with the final project payment, the remaining 50% of the project cost. - Website Launch/Implementation
-
Once you have approved the project, and the final payment has been received, your website will be rolled out to the specified
web server. The website will be made fully "live" and will be available to the general public at this time.
If you already have a web hosting provider, we will install your website to your current host. If you do not have a web hosting provider, Sureshot Hosting provides reliable, affordable web hosting packages to suit any needs. - Maintenance
-
During the lifespan of you website you may find that you wish to add new services or make changes to the website. Sureshot
will provide website maintenance and support services, at our prevailing hourly rate, to help your website grow with your
business.
If you require more regular website updates, we would be happy to discuss a monthly website maintenance contract with you.
